Are you considering starting a blog or a new blogger? You want to learn the ins and outs of the blogging world to start your new, flexible career path. Although you aren't sure of all the ways to make money while blogging. There are many ways but here we're going to go over the ways I and many other bloggers continue to use because it brings us the most profit.
With listing these, you have to remember that you may not want to do all of them, and that's fine! You don't have to. Hey, you don't have to do any if you're not worried about an income stream. You do you, whatever you want because your blog is your blog!
Now, there are a few different kinds of blogs. I'm not talking about niche's or anything like that. I'm talking in a very general sense. Business blogging. Some businesses have blogs, which are ideally there to lead customers/viewers TO their business. The business is what makes the money but they blog to drive more people to their business, resulting in more money that way. The other type of blogging is what I do here. Blogging is how I make my money. There is no company behind the scenes of this blog, nope. Just me here, researching, writing, recommending and just generally being here for you!
The second one is who will likely focus on most of these ways to make money blogging. Businesses with blogs can definitely make money by using these methods as well. Throw some ads up on your pages and you'll start earning from them. No big deal, ads are everywhere.
Here are the best ways bloggers make money:
- Affiliate Marketing
- Sell your own products (Ebooks, material related to your niche, printables, etc)
- Write your own or post others sponsored posts
How do you do that? Where?

So many bloggers make a substantial amount of money with affiliate marketing. There are a ton of sites and companies offering affiliate marketing though, and it can be hard to find one that you love. I have tested many of them and made a whole post on the ones I've found easiest to use, most beneficial in many different ways, and earn the most income from. Click here to open the post in a new tab.
Typically you'll need to apply to become an affiliate, some of the companies will take beginning bloggers. It's best to try either way. All that I've come across will allow you to re-apply later on if they decide you don't meet their criteria.
So, how do you make money with affiliate marketing? You post their products! Well, it may not be as simple as that, of course. You'll have to write reviews on your post, recommend certain things, make cute outfits if you're going with the fashion trends. It all depends on what you're promoting but the goal is to get people to click and purchase.
Affiliate marketing doesn't always have to be selling things like toys or books or clothing. You can become an affiliate to many different things such as advertising someones online course or a company people can sign up for (let's say I become an affiliate to one of the homeschool sites I use, I can offer it to you, explain why I use it and what it's about and you decide you like it so you sign up. Maybe it's a one time payment or monthly thing, either way I'd be advertising it and I'd earn something off of your sign up at no additional cost to you!)
Here are a few examples I've done:
I want to add another quick point about affiliate marketing. If you post product after product and say the same things about them, talk highly of them or just in general recommend basically anything in order to get sales, people aren't going to trust you as much. What I do is recommend products that I've actually tried/used. I wouldn't recommend an e-course to my followers if I hadn't taken it and made sure it was truly a good e-course. Why? If I recommend it to you and I didn't read it/take it, and it wasn't good for whatever reason, are you going to come back to me for more recommendations? Probably not. We want sales but we want trust, too.
Ads are kind of self explanatory. You apply to an ad program, many of which take beginning bloggers, get into it, then grab your personalized links and post. There are many different ways you can post them and place them. Typically ad's work by impressions and clicks.
My advice to new bloggers, or any blogger, is to not fill your site with ads. First of all, most ad programs have a maximum number of ads you can put on each page. This is set for a reason. If there are 20 ads on one page, first of all, your viewers may not stay. The loading time will be higher as well.
As long as you don't have a million ads, you should be good. They'll start earning you impressions and when people start clicking you'll usually get more for that too. Make sure to check with the specific ad programs you sign up for to get all of the details on how you earn money.
Sell your own products
Creating your own product is a great way to earn an income online. The same with the last point under affiliate marketing above, make sure it is something people want! You can make an e-course or e-book and post it to your blog to sell. There are many different ways to make your own products, you can make one yourself or use a pre-made template from paid sites. I have a Pinterest Ebook that I put together on my own. It's done really well and I put it at a really cheap price (unlike some other e-books that I've found for blogging), so everyone can afford it, even beginners on a budget.
My e-book is super cheap compared to others that sell. Again, I did that to help others out. You can name your own price on your products which is great!
Writing and Posting Sponsored Posts
Having blogger friends is super beneficial. First of all, you get a friendship out of it, second of all, you can help each other out! You don't have to be friends to do this, by the way, but I'm all about making friends. 🙂
Writing a sponsored post for someone can get you more income in a few ways. If you provide some valuable information to an audience, you can get paid to write a post for someones blog. You can also get more views and followers from it! When people see your post on someone else's site, they'll be able to click the link to your site and go straight to you! 🙂
The same works the other way. You can pay to have someone write a post for you or you can be paid to post theirs.
The point on both of these is that you are linking to each others sites, giving their followers somewhere to click to find you, and the same for your followers to them.
It's definitely something to look into. I know you can check out FIVERR and there are a people offering to write or post a sponsored post. You can also post an ad and offer your services to others doing the same thing.
These are the best/most popular ways to make money blogging. They are pretty simple once you get the hang of it, work with beginners and experienced bloggers and are passive ways to earn money.
