Have you wondered how to get your information seen to more people?
I mean, you have followers, right? No? Yes, but you want more?
Queue in group boards!
If you haven’t read my post on The Importance of Pinterest, go there first!!
Yes, group boards are crazy important. Why? They reach an audience you may not have been seen by otherwise. Well, duh. I knew that. Well, lets say you’re starting out, you have a few hundred followers right now but of course you want more. When you post to group boards, your posts are not only being seen and shared by other people involved in the group board, but the followers as well.
This is bringing you new pins, new followers and new site pages views.
Let’s say I make a group board and you apply to it. I accept and you post ONE post onto my group board. Your ONE post is seen by my / my group board followers! Which may or may not be more than the followers you have but they’re likely different followers than you already have.
My thinking has always been that even if you’re in a group board that reaches ten more people than what you currently have following you, that’s ten more people you could have interested in the information you have to share!
Come to my Pinterest, I have several group boards that are accepting new collaborators. Make sure you follow the rules on the boards (which are basically, on my boards, to repin others pins in order to help each other out and get the board out to new people!) and then send me a message on Pinterest or my Contact page here if you would like asking to join!
The benefit of Pinterest groups? Well, as I mentioned, having your posts/pins seen by others besides your followers. Say you’re in a group that has 100,000 followers. You have 1,000 followers. Your blog is being seen by 99,000 more. potential followers than if you were to continue to repin to your own boards.
More benefits: It lets Pinterest know what your post is about. If you post your pin to group boards, they can be generic group boards, (for example you post a pair of womens shoes in a group post called ‘fashion’) People who repin from group boards typically pin into specific groups.
Let’s say I’m a fashion pinner (I do pin fashion on my Pinterest) and I see your women’s shoes in the fashion group and I LOVE them! I won’t pin them just anywhere. Why? Because HELLO! Shoes belong in a shoe board, or a fashion board. Not over with my online money sources or my books. I have a board for childrens fashion, mens fashion, womens fashion, womens shoes, womens shirts, womens bottoms, etc, etc. And to break it down even further, some fashion bloggers have even more specific posts such as womens shoes turns into separate boards such as boots, flats, heels, etc. So what does this have to do with you? Pinterest is smart but it isn’t a person sifting through every pin posted. It guesses what your pins are about based on where they’re pinned.
Pinterest will start to see that your pin about women’s shoes is, in fact, women’s shoes.
Why is this important? It’ll get that specific pin seen more by people who follow women’s shoes, shoes, fashion, etc.
Why does this matter? Your pins will see so many new and different followers once the pin is more specified.
I have a ton of amazing tips for using Pinterest for your site or business.
