We love sci-fi books and movies as adults, right? I didn’t realize how much I did until I ventured into a series I fell in love with and then, mind blown, my bookshelf is full of them now!
Kids love adventure, new characters, things that are make believe!
This post is for the littles! The little littles 🙂
Young kids, toddlers up to age 6/7 (ish) because we know in this house the oldest still enjoys the small book stories. 😀
Rest assured, the older sci-fi books are coming!! Next post! Promise.
For now, here are 5 top sci-fi books for the littles:
-
If you decide to go to the moon
-
“If you decide to go to the moon,” writes Faith McNulty, “read this book first. It will tell you how to get there and what to do after you land. The most important part tells you how to get home.
Written in the second person, the text allows the reader to participate in every aspect of the journey, from packing (“don’t forget your diary and plenty of food”) to liftoff (at first you’ll feel heavy; don’t worry”) to traveling through space (where “the moon glows like a pearl in the black, black sky”). The reader lands at the Sea of Tranquility, the site of the first lunar landing

This book has amazing graphics! Great for curious minds. This book is about a boy making a trip to the moon, what he has to do, how to get there and even what he eats! It’s a great book for curious little minds.

Dragons Love Tacos and Dragons Love Tacos 2
-
TACOS!!! And Dragons? Count me in. We loved these two picture books!! And we love tacos, and dragons… need I say more? These books are both best sellers and for a good reason. Grab one, or two of these books and they’re bound to become a popular read in your house!
-
Dragons love tacos. They love chicken tacos, beef tacos, great big tacos, and teeny tiny tacos. So if you want to lure a bunch of dragons to your party, you should definitely serve tacos. Buckets and buckets of tacos. Unfortunately, where there are tacos, there is also salsa. And if a dragon accidentally eats spicy salsa . . . oh, boy. You’re in red-hot trouble.
-
News alert! It has just been discovered that there are NO MORE TACOS left anywhere in the world. This is a huge problem because, as you know, dragons love tacos. If only there was a way for the dragons to travel back in time, to before tacos went extinct. Then they could grab lots of tacos and bring them back! It’s the perfect plan, as long as there’s no spicy salsa. You remember what happened last time . . .

Star Wars: The Last Jedi Chewie and the Porgs
-
Who here is a die hard Star Wars fan? No? I’m not as much but I do enjoy learning more about it, watching the new movies that come out and, hello, my favorite subject, BOOKS! This is a great addition to any sci-fi lovers bookshelf. Pictures accompany the stories to introduce (or continue to show) your littles about star wars. That way when they get out their little light sabers, they’re ready to go!
-
From Emmy award-winning writer Kevin Shinick comes a lovable tale of Chewbacca the Wookiee and the pesky porgs of Ahch-To Island. Featuring adorable illustrations by artist Fiona Hsieh.

Potty Superhero: Get ready for big boy pants!
-
OH the joys of parenthood and potty training! This book makes it fun though! It does say big BOY, but if you’re like me and you read to many kids, you can just change the word boy to girl. They don’t mind so much when they’re very little. But a SUPER HERO helping them learn to go potty? Score! Who better to help them than someone they can look up to? Pro tip: Let them make up their own ‘potty superhero’, draw a picture and color it then post it in your bathroom, or wherever you want your little to see it. Reminding them that they can go potty just like their super hero can!
-
Every little superhero needs to use a potty, he just needs to know how to go! Help your own little superhero as he makes the journey toward wearing big boy undies.

Even Superheros Have Bad Days
-
I thought it only right to continue our AWESOME super hero vibe with adding another best selling super hero book! The graphics in this one are crazy cute. It’s about superheros and even though they’re super and a hero, they have bad days too. Just like ALL OF US. And, it’s ok! This book is a cute way to show your little that it’s alright to have a bad day, helps them with emotions that we all feel and opens up a world for them to learn.
-
When Superheroes don’t get their way,
when they’re sad, when they’re mad, when they’ve had a bad day . . .
. . . they COULD super-tantrum, they COULD but they DON’T,
because REAL Superheroes just WOULDN’T—they WON’T!

Do you need a bookshelf to hold all of your books? We have this bookshelf and I couldn’t be more happy with it! Ours is stacked full, overfull on every shelf. Books go in and out of it daily and it is still in perfect condition! I don’t mess around with stuff I buy and am always honest about it! The little hands here haven’t ruined this thing. I’d say it was a good purchase. >.<
Have you read any of these books?
Do you have any to add to this list?
